FACE LIFT
The Rifley Institute of Cosmetic Surgery performs expert facelift surgery for it's Las Vegas patients on a regular basis. It is extremely common for the skin on the face to gradually loosen and sag over time, creating wrinkles, jowls, and droopiness beneath the eyes. Among the facelift surgery candidates we see in our Las Vegas practice, we note that the excessive sun exposure and fluctuations in weight can speed this process, often making people look years older than they are. When we do a facelift at our office, it is intended to restore a smooth, youthful appearance to our patients by lifting and removing excess facial skin and tightening the underlying muscles.
At the Rifley Institute of Cosmetic Surgery, Dr. Rifley will help you to decide whether you are a good candidate for a facelift. A facelift is the procedure used to correct signs of aging and restore a more youthful appearance of the face. It involves tightening, contouring and repositioning of the skin and underlying tissues of the mid-face, lower face and neck.
The facelift procedure is performed as outpatient, meaning you will be able to go home the same day. In order to make the patient feel as comfortable as possible, a general anesthetic will be used during the procedure. Most procedures will be accompanied by some degree of pain or discomfort, but this is often minimal and will be controlled with oral pain medication.
The scarring from most procedures is minimal and well hidden. Over time, scars tend to fade and become even more unnoticeable. When possible, the incisions are concealed in natural skin creases or folds, lessening their appearance even more. The effects of aging and gravity will continue and after several years, some patients may desire additional procedures to maintain the desired result.
LASER SKIN RESURFACING
As we age, the effects of sun damage and environmental pollutants begin to take their toll on our skin, creating lines and wrinkles on our faces. Laser resurfacing can help minimize fine lines as they begin to occur, particularly those that form around the mouth and eyes.
The Laser is used to remove layers of damaged and wrinkled skin so that new, smoother, and more vibrant looking skin can form. Depending on the type of laser and amount of surface skin removed, you may also see a significant improvement in the tightness and firmness of the skin. Brief, high intensity emissions of light from the laser remove the skining layers by vaporizing the damaged skin at precisely controlled levels of penetration. Dr. Rifley may choose to penetrate more deeply in some areas, in order to remove deep scars, stubborn spots, and wrinkles. For complete comfort during the procedure, an anesthesiologist will provide intravenous sedation.
The amount of time needed for recovery depends on the depth of the resurfacing and the individual's capacity to heal. Most patients experience minimal pain and discomfort after the procedure. Redness may persist for several weeks or longer. The redness gradually lightens to pink, and then to a lighter, more natural color. Make-up can be applied approximately ten days after the procedure to cover up the redness. Sometimes, laser resurfacing is performed in conjunction with a facelift. Loose, sagging skin can be tightened and firmed by a facelift while the skin texture can be improved by laser resurfacing.
BROW LIFT
At the Rifley Institute of Cosmetic Surgery, we see that many people over time develop deep horizontal creases across the forehead, pinched furrows above the nose, or heavy, drooping eyebrows. By performing a brow lift for our patients we can reverse the lined, drooping brow that has left them looking tired, angry, sad, or simply far older than they actually are. The brow lift works to reverse this effect by lifting and tightening the skin on the forehead and smoothing out wrinkles-effectively taking years off our patients appearance.
In endoscope (miniature camera) beneath the skin through two or three small incisions. The endoscope allows him to see clearly while tightening and lifting tissue without making a larger, open incision.
EYELID SURGERY (Blepharoplasty)
At the Rifley Institute of Cosmetic Surgery, Dr. Rifley also performs eyelid surgery for our patients. Many patients arrive at our practice with heavy drooping eyelids or puffy bags beneath the eyes that can make them look tired or older than they really are. For these patients, eyelid surgery can restore a more youthful, alert appearance by removing excess skin and fat from the eyelids. It can also help improve vision if sagging eyelids are interfering with your sight. We perform eyelid surgery alone or in combination with other facial surgeries such as a brow lift or a facelift.
